The UK government’s 2023 Cyber Security Breaches Survey reported 32% of businesses and 24% of charities suffered a breach or attack in the last 12 months. These attacks are normally targeted and well-planned. The presentation by UCISA member and CIO at Northumbria University reflects on the experiences of a large-scale attack. Simon, discussed the lessons learned and the planning that should be considered to be prepared for the worst and give the organisation the best chance of recovery.
Starting from no presumed knowledge of AI, a mix of thought-provoking insights about artificial intelligence and practical suggestions of how to adapt to use AI in current roles. Alasdair’s perspectives come from twentysomething years in corporate & customer-facing change, capital projects and work with the HE sector, including analytics, big data and artificial intelligence. His view is that AI is a ‘gamechanger’, and as the technology advances we are building a new vocabulary to explore & understand what it means to be human. AI won’t yet take our jobs, but someone using AI might!
