Meet Quincy, our Product Designer…

In this month’s Humans of Kinetic, we speak to our talented Product Designer, who journeyed from Indonesia to the UK with big dreams! With a background in designing educational products, she brings a wealth of experience and passion to Kinetic. Discover how her love for problem-solving and creativity drives her work, and how she’s significantly impacting our team and the sector.

Q: Can you tell us briefly about your background and what led you to Kinetic?

I’m from Indonesia, and I came to London to study business (mainly because I always wanted to ride the red buses I saw on TV and because the UK has one of the best education systems in the world!) After I graduated and went back to Indonesia, I designed products for the Indonesian government to support the education system. These products ended up being used in over 166,000 libraries across the country. That experience made me realise that I wanted to keep working in education.

After three years in a long-distance relationship, I returned to the UK to marry my husband. That’s when I found Kinetic—a perfect match for me. It’s in the education sector, has amazing people, and a great culture. I knew right away that I wanted to be part of it.

Q: What inspired you to pursue your current career path?

Being a product designer means helping users be more productive and efficient — saving them time and money. It’s the perfect balance for me because I love problem-solving (I’ve been playing and collecting Rubik’s cubes since junior high), and I’ve always been creative (I have tons of crafty hobbies like crochet, beads, pipe cleaner, etc).

During the research phase, I get to interview customers, understand their pain points, and analyse potential solutions. Then, in the design process, I get to brainstorm and simulate the user journey in my mind (using my imagination) before creating the wireframe, high-fidelity design, and prototype.

Q: What excites you the most about working at Kinetic?

The culture and the people at Kinetic are what excite me the most. Kinetic truly empowers everyone to contribute, grow, and do their best work. The supportive environment makes it a place where I feel valued and motivated. I’m especially grateful for my team, who constantly encourages and empowers me to push my skills further. Being surrounded by such passionate and talented colleagues makes working at Kinetic an inspiring and fulfilling experience.

Q: What’s one area of personal or professional growth you’re currently focused on?

Accessibility in design. I want to create products that are truly inclusive and usable for everyone, regardless of their abilities. Not only does it improve user experience, but it also ensures that no one is left behind. Our team is very passionate about this as well, which makes learning and implementing accessibility best practices even more exciting.

It’s a continuous journey, but I love the challenge of making digital experiences more intuitive for all users.

Q: If you could instantly learn any new skill, what would it be and why?

If I could instantly learn any new skill, it would be coding—specifically front-end development. As a product designer, I work closely with developers, and it would help me create more feasible and efficient designs while also enabling better collaboration with engineers. Plus, I love problem-solving, and coding feels like an extension of that—like solving a complex puzzle but with real-world impact!
