Q: Can you tell us briefly about your background and what led you to Kinetic?

I started my career in the film industry as a Production Coordinator, working on short and feature films. One of my proudest moments was working on a short film for the 2012 Olympics, which won a silver podium award. But after seven years in film, I needed a change.

A friend reached out about a temp job at UAL, and that’s where my journey with Kinetic began—as a Summer Commercial Administrator using KxResidential. I discovered I loved working with students and the higher education sector. Over eight years, I progressed to Senior System Administrator for Kinetic at UAL, achieving so much along the way.

After that, I briefly dipped my toes in PBSA, working at Now Student Living. When a fantastic opportunity arose at Kinetic, I jumped at the chance to work alongside the team I had built great relationships with during my UAL days.

Q: What’s your role at Kinetic, and what does a typical day look like for you?

I’m the Support Excellence and Innovation Lead. My role is to promote best practices and drive change within the Support Team. Since I’m still quite new, my typical day involves understanding what changes can be made to help both, our team and our customers, make the most out of this partnership.

Right now, I’m working on two key projects which will eventually help the Support Team as well as customers plan and interact with each other better.

Q: What’s something you do outside of work that brings you joy or fulfilment?

I love music—especially heavy metal! It’s a huge part of my life. I’ve seen incredible bands over the years, and the annual pilgrimage to Bloodstock in Derby is always the highlight of my summer.

I’m also deeply involved in the local music scene in Colchester, supporting local venues and bands. My fiancé and I are even having a metal band play at our wedding in a few weeks!

Q: What’s one area of personal or professional growth you’re currently focused on?

I’m naturally shy, so I’m focusing on becoming more outgoing and confident, as well as trying new experiences.

Q: What’s something you’re passionate about that most people don’t know?

History! I love exploring how people lived in the past, their art, and their architecture. My passion started with Horrible Histories as a child—Rotten Romans was my favourite! Living in Colchester, Britain’s first city has amplified my interest in local history.
