Meet Phil, our Business Systems Analyst…

Meet Phil Warwick, our resident problem-solver and Salesforce whisperer. From his early days unknowingly doing business analysis in a sales role, to leading teams and streamlining systems, Phil’s journey has been all about curiosity, creativity, and continuous improvement. Dive into Phil’s story to learn how he’s helping shape the future of operations at Kinetic — one inventive solution at a time.

Q: Can you tell us briefly about your background and what led you to Kinetic?

My first forays into business analysis were through a sales role at an open-source software services company. The primary product we offered was ERP system implementations, and I consequently found myself filling the business analysis role (without realising it!) as part of the pitch and implementation process.

Once I recognised that this was, firstly, more enjoyable than sales and, secondly, a viable career path, I moved to Morrison Utility Services as a dedicated business process and systems analyst. I was there for roughly seven years and even led my team, but I missed working with stakeholders to understand their issues and devise inventive solutions. From there, I explored opportunities in the finance sector before moving on to Kinetic!

Q: What’s your role at Kinetic, and what does a typical day look like for you?

I’m part business analyst, part system admin, and part mad scientist. A big part of the role is engaging with stakeholders — digging into their challenges, understanding the “why” behind what they want to do, and then turning that into something meaningful.

Holding the keys to Salesforce makes you a pretty popular person. I can’t remember a day that hasn’t brought a new request — whether it’s troubleshooting, helping the system behave, or brainstorming ways to capture better data and drive efficiency.

Q: What excites you the most about working at Kinetic?

As a company in its “teen years” — that space between small and big, full of ambition and momentum — we’re in a unique position. There’s so much potential not just to strengthen operational excellence, but to reimagine how we manage and use data, deliver projects, and embed change across the business. It’s an exciting time to be part of the journey.

Q: Can you share a time when you had to step out of your comfort zone?

Kinetic is a place where you’re held up to the light and the holes in your skillset come into sharp focus. To thrive here, you’re challenged to grow, to level up, to fill those holes. You’re constantly faced with a choice: settle for “I’m good enough” or lean into “I can be better than I was yesterday.” It’s not always easy, but it’s a powerful environment to embrace the mindset that the obstacle is the way.

Q: If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

I’d have to go with ‘alive’ — conversations tend to be a bit stale with the dead.
